DCI-06 Company Innovation – Module Overview

The primary focus of the overall Deliberate Creativity & Innovation course is to give participants the insights, tools and training to contribute creatively to an organisation’s innovation effort. Understanding what creativity and innovation means, and how organisations handle them is therefore of real importance to that focus.

In this eModule we will start to explore what creativity is, how innovation might be defined, and we’ll look at a range of simple models that have been developed by organisations of various types.  One key point must be made though, and that is that there is no one right definition of creativity or innovation.  There are widely accepted views, and many similar generic definitions, but most of these are not particularly useful in helping an organisation or team to ‘take action’ to become more creative or innovative.

It isn’t that the material in this area is wrong, it is just that creativity and innovation need to be put in the Context of the organisation and situation in which you find yourself.  This eModule aims to get you started on that exploration.
